Weekend Recap

Yes, I do realize that it is Wednesday, but I have been so busy I haven't had a chance to sit down and update the ole blog :)  So here goes.  Last Friday I didn't have to work so I got to spend the day with some of my favorite kiddos, Emma and Jake.  I started babysitting for Emma and her sister Kate when I was in college at NC State and soon after Jake came along.  Now, I occasionally babysit for them and enjoy every minute of it.

Here is a pic of sweet Emma, Jake was sleeping so I didn't get a pic of the little man.

Friday night, I got home from babysitting and Adam got home from work and we were both craving something really good for supper but didn't necessarily want to go out so I decided to make shrimp and grits and they were AMAZING.  Enjoy the pictures below and I will be sure to post the recipe later (it's a Paula Dean special plus a few added items)

Hmmmm, the GRITS.......

And the shrimp concoction ........

Drum Roll please..... THE FINAL PRODUCT!!!!

Saturday was the second to last home NC State football game for the year and we played Klampson errr Clemson.  Honestly, no one really expected/thought we would win the game but holy cow, the football team looked like a different team.  Everyone was hyped up and ready to dominate.  And, thats exactly what they did :)

By far, my favorite picture from the game hahah

Here is part of the crew :)

I also made some stuffed jalapenos for the tailgate and they were a HUGE hit!  You can find the recipe here.  I follow this blog and absolutely love her recipes and fashion sense :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday and a HAPPY THANKSGIVING WEEKEND!!

Santa, Can you hear me?

Todays blog post is inspired by my top 5 Christmas List wants for this year:

1.  Micheal Kors Rose Gold Watch

2.  Tory Burch Flats ( I really like the black, brown and gold:)

3.  A new pair of gap jeans (I like the wider leg but would really settle for a regular small flare pair as well)

4.  An area rug for our living room... I like both of the ones below.  Yes, I have a minor obsession with Crate and Barrel :)

5.  And to round out the list, I really love Dolce and Gabana's Light Blue perfume.  It has a light yet refreshing smell and its not too strong.

Adam, I mean Santa I've been so good this year :)

Reckless Kelly, Mickey and the Motor Cars and Duke Basketball

Last thursday, Adam and I went to Lincoln theater to see Reckless Kelly and Mickey and the Motor Cars perform.  Their genre is a Texas country sound that is easy to sing a long to.  I worked a twelve hour shift that day and left straight from the hospital to make the concert (yes, I changed in my car and it was quite difficult).  Needless to say I was a little tired by the end of the night, but we had a great time.

Both of these bands and a few more well-known Texas country bands all join together each year in Challis, Idaho to perform at what is known as the Braun Brothers Reunion.  Adam went two years ago and said that it was awesome.  Hopefully one of these years we will both get to go!

Last Friday night, we went and saw Duke play Belmont at Cameron Indoor.  I have always wanted to see a game inside of this arena because of all the hype and craziness of the Cameron Krazies.  It was a good, close game that came down to the last shot and kept us on the edge of our seats pretty much the entire time.

First time in Cameron Indoor!  hahah (I'm such a nerd!)

Catching up

It's been awhile since the last post and I apologize for that but life has been so crazy.  So I will take this opportunity to catch you guys up!  First of all, in response to my last post, N.C. State ended up beating Carowina  err I mean Carolina in a very low scoring but entertaining game.

All in all it was a great weekend and nice to see the Wolfpack come out on top!

A few weeks ago, Adam was in New Bern for the week on a business trip and I went down and visited him as a little mini vacation.  Not only did I get to spend time with him but I also got to see one of my good friends from college, Megan.  We met downtown for supper at the Chelsea and had the famous shrimp and grits.  A little disclaimer here: I love any size, shape, form of shrimp and grits and the Chelsea's did not let me down.

Megan ordered a few blue drinks that were reminiscent of the ones we had in the bahamas on our senior year college cruise.  They were delicious... and pretty :)

After dinner we headed downtown New Bern to hang out and have a few drinks.  It was so nice to hang out with my husband while he was away and to see Megan.

Put your gameface on!

I do realize that it is only Wednesday and the UNC/NC State game is on Saturday, but as the week goes on Adam and I cant help but get more and more excited about kickoff.  Considering it is the biggest game of the year, I am sure that everyone will be in rare form while on their best behavior of course :)  The game is at noon which most people gripe about but I actually like the early games.  I enjoy having daylight after a football game.  Anyways, I will be sure to have a full recap after the weekend craziness.  Happy Wednesday y'all!

Here are a few of my favorite football pics.  Yes, my husband and I are special:)

Weekend Getaway

Adam and I  had the pleasure of spending the weekend at Topsail Beach with some great friends.  It felt so refreshing, not to mention relaxing, to wake up to the sound of waves crashing on the beach each morning.  Thanks to our friend Rob and his families wonderful beach bungalow,  we (along with several other friends) spent the weekend hanging out, sitting outside enjoying the beautiful weather, watching football (of course!), and cooking errr inhaling oysters by the bushel.  Needless to say, we had a great time (but I mean how can you have a bad time at the beach?:).

Before beginning our journey to Topsail for the weekend, we stopped at Starbucks to get some drinks for the road.  I am obsessed with their pumpkin spice latte.  Adam just got a cup of coffee; I think that the lattes are too sweet for him (but perfect for me :).

As we got closer to Topsail, we saw signs/billboards for the Duplin Winery all along the side of the road.  Every time we drive by we always comment on how we want to go to a tasting there some day but we never seem to stop and just continue on our way.  However, since we were way ahead of our friends in getting to the beach, we thought that we would take this opportunity to stop and explore and we were glad we did.  We got to try several of their top sellers and also purchased some to try at home.

We finally got to the beach and had a great time hanging out with everyone.

And, especially had a good time eating lots of oysters.  The guy pictured below is our friend Will, or master oyster shucker I should say.  Seriously, every time I ate one oyster, Will had another one ready for me to eat.

Unfortunately, Adam got so excited shucking oysters, he accidently cut his finger with a knife and bought us a ticket to the urgent care.  Always an adventure with us!

Thankfully everything was fine besides one deep cut and a very sore finger.

Overall it was a wonderful weekend.  I hate to see Sundays end.  Hope everyone has a great Monday.  I will leave you with a little inspiration below :)

The Wild Wild West

When Adam and I were deciding where to go on our honeymoon I decided that I would leave it to him to surprise me (which is ironic for a girl who literally begs people to tell her what she's getting for Christmas :).  Nevertheless, I was extremely busy trying to get everything squared away with the wedding so I thought that it would be fun and refreshing to not know where we were going.  This seemed like a good plan in theory.... until I needed to pack :)  With that being said Adam ended up telling me what he had planned and I was so excited to learn that we would be spending a week in Jackson Hole, Wyoming/Driggs, Idaho followed by a week traveling up the pacific coast of California.   So without further ado I will share some of my favorite pictures with you.

At the airport before beginning our journey out west.

The Tetons!! They were absolutely breathtaking; the picture does not do it justice :)

In front of a giant waterfall on our day hike in the Tetons after we saw a bear and I freaked out haha.

At a bluegrass concert at the Grand Targhee Ski Resort (thanks to Jacob and Kara and Daniel and Aimee for their wedding gift!).. such a good time.

Hello California.

During our drive up the pacific coast we decided to stop at the Ventana Inn (recommended by Adam's Uncle John).  The view was amazing and the food was very tasty, needless to say we enjoyed every minute of it.

Yes, we ate this for breakfast one morning.  We found this tiny, hole-in-the-wall restaurant 1 block from the beach called Mrs. Olsen's.  As you can see, there was so much food on each plate.   We only ate about half and didn't even touch the toast.  It was a breakfast like none other!

I'll leave you guys with this picture.  Gah, I can't wait to go back one day :)

And so it begins!

Yes my friends, I have officially started a blog.  Honestly, I have been talking about creating a blog for about a year and a half now, so with the craziness of the wedding over I figured it's time to give the blogging world a shot :)

I hate to disappoint you on my first post, but I have decided to make it short and sweet, but don't worry, there will be more, a whole lot more, so stay tuned.
